Default Six star?

I thought five star was the highest for a hotel yet in Dubai they have 6 star and 7 star? I believe, does anyone have any idea as to what actually makes them 6/7 star hotels and how much are they to stay in?

The traditional 5-star hotel rating has no official status - there are no internationally accepted hotel classification. 6 or 7 star "status" is usually self-conferred by the hotel itself to stress and promote the fact that they are more luxurious and opulent than the best 5 star hotel. For Dubai, the Burj Al Arab is one self-proclaimed and generally recognized 6-star property with great views, many facilities and of course high room rate to match.

Burj Al Arab is a 7 star hotel; it is the first 7 star hotel in the world. I thought it was the only 7 star hotel in the world but Milan in Europe now has their own 7 star hotel. But comparing it with Dubai’s 7 star hotel I would still choose Dubai’s Burj Al Arab. I think these types of hotels are not just for comfort but it obviously shows that their target niches are those who belong to the upper class people. I wish I can also see this hotel when I get a chance to visit Dubai.

A 7 star tag is just a way of advertising their luxuries and facilities, it is basically a method of satisfy the whims of the people who want to flaunt money most unintelligently.5 star is good enough and makes quite a sense.Comfort is what makes you feel great and can not be termed as the comfort like your own home, then why not just stay at home and enjoy the best of luxuries at the bare minimum price.

sanju123 is absolutely right. Remember that the star-system though widely used is never an international hotel classification standard. There are clear distinctions between a 4 star hotel and 5 star property in terms of ambience, facilities etc. But beyond thatl, 6 or 7 star is just mere marketing hype. Some one in future will claim a 8-star spot.

It won't be a surprise if we get to have the eight star hotels. If you give it a thought, what else you can enjoy in a hotel. The rooms, the service, the pool, the best of food, some sports, sauna steam, and so on and so forth.I don't have any other idea that can be enjoyed beyond all these facilities, if you have please add up, you are most welcome.

Yeah they even have seven star hotels. Royalty is being redefined by these people. I think they are just looking to make more luxurious places for the people who are extremely wealthy. There are people willing to spend money on such luxury, so its all in good business.

If they keep on adding stars, the sytem will soon by devalued and nobody will pay attention to a say 100-star hotel. I do not have that kind of money to splurge on luxury hotel but even if I have, I guess I will rather spend the money elsewhere. For me, the most important thing is a good sleep and a good shower.
