As people from all over the world converge to Dubai for Gold, what about the locals? They must be wearing exclusive designed jewelery, but then I wonder how because the ladies tend to remain covered,or is it at the parties that the people are a little more liberal?
I guess gold is has universal appeal and Dubai women do certainly wear gold jewellery. Gold in Asia and Dubai are noted for its purity the so called 24-carat gold. In the west and US, most gold are less pure with metal added to make gold less brittle.
This I have also observed that Asians and middle east countries lay lot of stress on the purity of gold, actually here wearing gold is status symbol and moreover it is considered to be good investment, they do make it sure that they get purest form of gold so that they get 100% return when sell it off .
With gold prices rising, surely it make sense as an investment and a hedge against inflation. Pure gold is not valued only for its purity - it is also more glittering and alluring than those less pure 18K gold.
It is true the jewelery made from pure gold is more shinning than the made out of 18k.But personally I am not very fond of those all glittery stuff,I prefer the designs which are more trendy and delicate, the kinds are popular in western countries.
That is the reason in the west, they add metal to make the gold less brittle and easier to bend and form new designs, fanciful but cheap I suppose. For me, I collect gold coins that are 24K nothing less.
