Dubai can be broadly divided into 4 areas; Deira, Bur Dubai, Sheikh Zayed Rd and Jumeirah.

Personally I prefer Bur Dubai which is on the southern side of the Dubai Creek and includes the historic Bastakia area and the Dubai Museum.

Mine favorite is Jumeirah for sure as it is a coastal residential area. It has both expensive and as well as more modest houses built in a variety of architectural styles. The area is popular with people from different countries working here and this place is known to many tourists visiting Dubai.
