I am aware that people here are too fond of watching movies.But do they have a setup for producing movies or it is just foreign movies that are popular here.

Most movies are either from Holly or Bollywood. I don't think there is a domestic film production base; if there is, the cost of production will be very high.

Lots of movies are produced in dubai every year. Although some movies are not even set in Dubai, they have scenes from them for no apparent reason. Like bollywood movies, they put them in their songs for no reason at all. Its because the place is so popular everybody wants to do movies there. Also its a good setting for gangster movies due to the underworld situation in dubai.

A milestone in Dubai cinema happen in 2005. That year saw the premiere of Dubai's first feature film by Hani al-Shaibhani. I cannot rememeber the title of the movie but it is a light-hearted lost-in-the-desert flick.

People love Dubai for some reason, and this is the same case for production companies. They always try to find some way of incorporating the city in. This is especially true of bollywood production companies. This has the added benefit of letting the crew members enjoy a mini vacation.
