I have heard that people in Dubai are Bollywood movie freaks.They are too fond of Khans of this industry.Lot of stars from India tour this place and give performances over there and such shows are big hit with the Dubai people.
yeah the place has a lot of indians and hindi speaking community and they like bollywood movies.Various bollywood functions like IIfa awards are organized in dubai.
This is very true. I grew up with my mom and brother constantly watching bollywood movies. My background in Bengali but thanks to bollywood I can understand hindi very well (without subtitles as they didn't have it a while ago) and can even speak it in a semi-broken manner. Not only the Arabians who watch it but there's a huge population of people from the south asian community who live there.
Probably that must be the reason that a lot of Bollywood movie shootings also are done in Dubai.The hindi movie influence is because of a parallel Bollywood industry in Dubai.All Indian movie production houses too are said to have parallel offices in Dubai.Arabians too are very fond of these as they understand the Hindi language to quite an extent.
It goes both ways. People in Dubai love Bollywood because a lot of them are from the south asian community and a lot of people just enjoy that stuff, and in turn people in Bollywodd love Dubai as they are always filming there and the productions a lot of times have contacts in Dubai. I think some of the producers may even live in Dubai, its ironic but true.
It is not only the south Asian community which is fond of Bollywood movies, somehow I have had the idea that people in general are fond of these including the locals.The Hindi movies sell like hot cakes and are in fact more popular than the hollywood movies.
Your observation is spot-on. Wherever there is a substantial Indian or even Malay communities, Bollywood films and videos are bound to be popular. I guess Bollywood and outsourced workers are India's greatest exports.
